Kiyoshi Takayama, a reputed boss of the Yamaguchi-gumi clan within Japan’s organized crime network known as the Yakuza, has been sentenced to six years on an extortion conviction as reported by Jake Adelstein for The Daily Beast:  Takayama “was convicted of extorting cash totaling more than 40,000,000 yen (approximately $422,000) from a 67-year-old president of a construction industry in Kyoto under the pretext of  ‘protection money.'”
